Season Finale: Castaway at Cheltenham Literature Festival

26 September 2026

Every season needs a proper last night. For Castaway Kitchen in 2026, that’s the Cheltenham Literature Festival, 9th–18th October, the last official event on our calendar and a fitting one: it’s right on our home patch.

A very different crowd

We’ve spent the year feeding people at music festivals, from indie fields to castle grounds. The Literature Festival is a different beast. It runs for ten days, with more than 500 events, and around a third of the programme is free to attend. Expect authors, comedians, politicians, chefs and a lot of people who have queued for a good seat and would very much like some lunch.

We think that’s a great crowd to end on.

What to expect from us

Same Castaway you know, just with a few more tote bags around. Our gyros-led menu is what we’re known for, with the Korean and poke bowls alongside for anyone after something lighter between sessions.

Find us

We’ll post exactly where we’re pitched on our socials as soon as it’s confirmed, so follow us on Instagram and Facebook (@castawaykitchen) to avoid wandering around Cheltenham with a rumbling stomach.

You can also follow the whole season on our festival map, where the final pin has just gone in.

What’s next?

The unit doesn’t stop when the season does. If you’re planning a party, a wedding or a corporate event, have a look at our private catering and get in touch. Winter dates go quicker than you’d think.

See you in Cheltenham.
