Street food catering has become a popular choice for weddings, birthdays and corporate events. It’s relaxed, it’s generous and guests can choose what they eat. Here’s what to think about before you book.
1. Lock in your date early
Good caterers book up, especially for summer weekends. Get in touch as soon as you have a date and a venue, even if the guest list isn’t final.
2. Know your numbers (roughly)
You don’t need an exact headcount on day one, but a realistic range helps a caterer plan staffing and stock. Final numbers are normally confirmed closer to the date.
3. Think about dietary needs
Ask about vegetarian, vegan and allergen options, and tell your caterer about any guest requirements up front. A good street food operator will talk you through the menu honestly.
4. Check the venue
Access for a catering unit, space to park and set up, and availability of power and water can all matter. Some venues have rules about outside caterers, so check before you commit.
5. Ask about insurance and hygiene
A professional caterer should be happy to talk about food hygiene registration, allergen procedures and public liability insurance.
6. Agree the format
Will guests queue at the hatch, or will you want a set service time? Will it be the main meal, or an evening feast after the ceremony? Decide early and the rest falls into place.
